I'm just saying.....

Here's a question I've been asking myself, hypothetically of course.

How do you plan a wedding for as cheaply as possible to take place in a month?
I am not a wedding sort of person. I've never envisioned the white train or the big elaborate feista. I see a small gathering, an impromptu ceremony at some pretty location, and in this hypothetical vision I see the task of trying to find some sort of a dress for a rather disproportionate type of figure. I'm hoping that in one month will be spring, with spring blooms popping up everywhere. I feel like, in this vision, I need to manifest a friend who has a nice camera and knows how to use it. I see my mom being there, playing a song on the guitar. And I see a small gathering to take place after, with great food but no dancing. I have no other details in this vision, which rather lacks in details to begin with.

but it's hypothetical anyway....

Hypothetical my ass.....
Go to the town office, get the paperwork, get yourself a pretty dress, and have a party with friends and family somewhere close by. Perhaps make it a pot luck. Get some speakers and plug in your ipod for music. decorate with paper chains (the kind you made in grade school) and get someone who is good with a camera to take the photos.....
:)

What she said! And I'll follow the details with interest, since I'm kind of in a similar boat.

One thing to note: In Colorado, getting the paperwork done makes you married, so if you want a ceremony, anyone can "officiate." Your mom, your friends, your hairdresser ... or you can marry each other all by yourselves.

You could price out a Chinese-style wedding banquet at a Chinese restaurant, if you like Chinese food. Chinese weddings are fun! And you could wear red!

I know, Kitt. It's crazy that you can marry yourself in Colorado! (only other state is Pennsylvania)The folks at the marriage license office did say that they know of people that have run into trouble with no "officiate" on their marriage license. Just something to consider.

weddings are supposed to be personal. They don't have to be big and fancy. It seems like 36 years ago I did the same thing. WE had a month before we were moving back to Maine from CA and we decided to get married first. We just found a little church that would marry us, had a small reception in our backyard, the bakery where I worked made the cake, and we had a one night honeymoon at Don's Turf motel in Anaheim. When we came out the next morning our truck was covered with pigeons( I guess that's why they don't want you to throw rice anymore) and along with that birdshit! Anyway to make a long story short, it was memorable. We only had about twenty people there but we enjoyed it and it has lasted 36 years. Maybe that's why. Have what ever you can and enjoy the moment. I just wish I could be there. I'll be thinking of you anyway. If you're lucky the baby will kick right in the middle of the ceremony to remind you she's the biggest part of this.
